Talking Question? - BSN student in search of a DE NP, or APN

Hi Folks,

Im completeing a distance learning program through Graceland University. I need to complete some clinical time for the last part of my program. I need to do some time in Home Health and Advanced Roles of Nursing. Im hoping to get the home health done at my local hospital.

Im having some difficulties getting the Advanced Roles portion completed beacause I cant find an administrator or NP in the hospital with enough time to be my preceptor.

In my search I though Id brance out and try and see if there were any FNP's pr APNs in town in group or private practice. Preferably Family Practice or other broad based clientelle practice.

Trouble is I can t find any! I know of 1 or 2 in town who work as CNM's. If you know of any NP's in the Delaware area, closer to Dover would be a plus who would be willing to let me "tag along" please let me know!

Basically I need to spend 36.5 hours helping you out, and another 36.5 hrs in observation of you working or a combination to give me 73 hours total.

BTW: It also looks good on your resume to be a preceptor to students

Thanks alot,
Matt

Re: BSN student in search of a DE NP, or APN

Matt,
I have to do something similar in my Associate program I actually shadowed a Nurse manager. Not as exciting as an FNP but an eye opener. If you want to come as far as Baltimore, there are some very nice Critical/Acute Care APNs working at Union Memorial Hospital, that love to have Student!
Good luck
