My username is a little dated!!! No longer am I a student, but a full fledged RN!!! Woo Hoo!!! i work at a hospital in Columbus, OH at a level III NICU! And I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

Anyway, my question here is.... do you feel that there is much room for growth, professionally, after you receive your bachelors, if you are not interested in becoming a practioner?

I always felt in school that i would pursue my masters degree (at least!!!!!!!!) and now, am not so sure! I love neonatal so much, but i dont really have that much drive to become an NNP! Any suggestions?

I say give it time. Maybe after you have worked there for a while you might feel you need a change. You may enjoy being a bedside nurse for a while or you may want to move on to another area. My advice is to wait and see how it all unfolds. Hope this helps!

There's definitely room for growth after getting your BSN. First focus on your own skills and unit. Get involved in committees, performance improvement initiatives, etc. Then start studying for your RNC certification, which you can get after 2 years experience in a Level III nursery. You can get a general MSN with a concentration in neonatal at some schools, as well as get a Neonatal CNS MSN, which can let you function in a NICU staff education role. There are definitely a lot of options out there.
