Scope for a NICU Nurse
|
|
Hi
Does anyone know the scope for an NICU nurse in New York City right now?
What is the most needed type of nurse right now?

Specific scope of practice issues are probably best addressed by your board of nursing and/or hospital. Is that what you're asking?

not exactly. I just wanted to know in general terms, which nursing areas are really needed right now! I mean which areas are more popular than others!
Which areas are in demand?

I'm not sure what you're asking either. You posted on the NICU forum, therefore, we're thinking you are a NICU nurse? So, you would be wanting to work in a NICU. It doesn't get much more specialized than that. It is a popular specialty and there are jobs available.
If you want more info, please clarify.

I like some of the previous responders am confused as to what exactly you are asking. I did look at some of your previous posts and noted you posted about being recently accepted to a LPN program. That is one path to NICU nursing but a little longer. Most NICU's require RN to work in them. I know a couple nurses who used to be LPN's, returned to RN school so they could work NICU.
Most areas need NICU nurses but there seems to be a greater need in larger population areas as they tend to have the referral centers that have large NICU's. I saw you posting a lot about Queens/Manhattan, I'm sure there is a great need in that region.

Hi
First of all, I want to apologize for confusing every1 that answered my post. Yes I did get accepted into the LPN program at Laguardia College, but I'm thinking about switching into the nursing program. I've always been fascinated with babies and working with them, so I just wanted some suggestions about NICU. If there was a demand for NICU nurses and things like that!
Thank You.
