Rough night - needed to vent a little...

I found out tonight when I got to work that my former primary had passed away earlier that morning. D had been on my unit for the first 4 and a half months until he was transfered to the nearby children's hospital for a VSD repair (among other things...). His PPHN got out of control and because of that, and all of his other problems, they were not able to do anything for him. He was made a DNR by his parents a month ago, and he had been hanging in there since then. But on Wednesday night / Thursday morning, he went to be with the angles.

I find it bittersweet that a lot of us NICU nurses have little tributes to our beloved primaries in our Allnurses signatures.

What a privilege we have to make a difference in the life of a little angel.
