Im a new grad working on a mother baby unit taking my orientation home quiz, we never give infants antibiotics on my unit or really much of any meds other than hep b shot and tylenol, so I'm really not sure about these two questions.

1.Trough theraputic drug level for gentamicin is 0.5 to 1 mcg/ml? true or false

2. when administering IM injections to a newborn, the nurse should not give more than _____ ml per injection.

#2 is 0.5ml. NOt sure about the Gent levels...our pharmacy handles that.

Therapeautic trough for gent is 0.5-1 mcg/ml

We always give the next gent dose if the trough is less than 1.

2. Somewhere in the back of my brain it registers 1ml, that may be peds though. In practice, </=0.5 ml is what most injections are.
