Question? - NICU nurse looking into working in NYC

I just have some questions for anyone who is a NICU nurse in NYC.

How are the patient ratios? Do you find the working conditions to be decent?

I may even consider being a travel nurse there. Do you know of any companies that place NICU nurses in NYC?

Any info would would be greatly appreciated!

Re: NICU nurse looking into working in NYC

I am an RN in NYC.....

The hospital I work at now is the only one I've ever worked at in the city, so I can't vouch for anywhere else...

We are a high-acuity regional referral center with ECMO, advanced surgical services, as well as having a robust cardiac program. Our patient load can be anywhere from 1-4 pts depending on acuity. Fresh postop cardiacs, ECMOs and complicated surgeries are 1:1, cPAPs and preemies are generally 3:1, stable feeders are usually (not always) 4:1

I work in a 3-year old children's hospital building that is enormous but nice. Our equipment can be scarce due to the high census and our vents are dinosaurs because our self-proclaimed "neonatal pulmonologist" won't try anything new.

We just started using travelers again, from CrossCountry, I think...
