NICU certifications?

Hi there,
I'm fairly new to this forum, and I have already enjoyed the shared stories and helpful information. I'm a nursing student, graduating in May, and very interested in working in a NICU. I have just one question, and I hope it's not one that has been asked before.
Are there any specialty certifications that are helpful in working in the NICU? I know that neonatal resuscitation is a must, but is there any thing else that may be helpful?

Thanks,
TanayNicole

There are some NICU certifications, but you can't even test for them until you've worked for at least 2 years in the NICU. NRP is really the biggie, and most of the time it'll be part of your NICU orientation program, provided by the hospital.

The best thing to do is try and get a job as a nursing assistant or get a student externship or preceptorship in the NICU while you are in school.

Also if you can take the S.T.A.B.L.E. Program. It's great. It picks up where NRP stops. I love NICU. Hope you will too!
