Re: Funny Names

Peyshence (Patience)

Kwanell

A'Kufusai

Just today I asked a mom how to spell her son's name and she said that she hadn't gotten that far, but how would I spell it? I told her that it was up to her. I wanted to say that I wouldn't name him that at all!

Re: Funny Names

Well, let's see...

Miracle - spelled Myrakle, meracel, mirakel

Patience - spelled Payshuns, Paeshense

Bryan and Breeanne

There are many, many more that I can't think of right now.

Re: Funny Names

My favorite from a non-hospital setting was Mrquantez and Sirantonio (brothers) mister quantez and sir antonio *rolls eyes*

When I was in the ER, I saw some great ones like: Imyuneek. (I'm unique)

In our unit we had an Amiracle (she might have spelled it differently) and we never referred to her as that, because well - that should be obvious *LOL* We always called her "Miss Smith". Mom was not involved and we realized we needed to come up with a nickname for Amiracle, otherwise this child would grow up and think their name was "Miss Smith". *LOL*

Re: Funny Names

Most recently, Nivek. We were all trying to figure out if it was pronounced Ni-vek or Niv-ek and where they came up with this name. I then realized that most likely the dad's name was Kevin. I wanted to bet money on it, but everyone said I was probably right.

Re: Funny Names

Ok so tonight I didn't feel like studying like I should be so instead I thought I'd look at our hospital's website where there is a virtual nursery and the parents can have their baby's first photo up there if they want. Here is the list of names that were interesting:
boys:
Jakoby
Beckett
Sixto
Desert
Kason
Steel
Madson
Kagan
Holden

Girls:
Charzel (combo of her parents names)
Stormy July (we had an extremely rainy July this year)
Litaly
Uriah
Kaleialoha
Cleveland
Tangerine
Hennessey
Venice

Now back to studying I suppose

Re: Funny Names

I want to "defend" a couple names on that last list

Holden isn't unusual at all. It's not terribly common, but it's a famous name (Catcher in the Rye's main char is named Holden)

And Kaleialoha is an ethnic name that means Beloved Child....I pretty much give a pass to true ethnic names (*paranoid look* because my own children have ethnic names *LOL*)

Uriah is a little weird for a girl, but is a very traditional biblical name.

Re: Funny Names

Not to offend any cultures by saying this, but I love when parents take normal names, and add stuff to them. Like adding La, Ja, Ta, De.... to the beginning of a normal name. Jamario, Desteven...
