Re: Funny Names

I cannot believe I forgot this one! In my defense, I haven't seen this person in at least five years, but...

One of my oldest friends named his son [unusual but not particularly egregious first name] Luckyedenmoonstardance [three, yes, THREE more normal-ish middle names] [lastname]

Luckyedenmoonstardance. All one word.

Re: Funny Names

It's still beaten out by my longtime favorite, and yes, I do know this person and both his parents very well: Howdy Do-Good Tomahawk Truckstop. Hippies used to have babies on the schoolbuses they traveled in, and this young fellow was born at the Tomahawk Truckstop. No idea about the first bit.

And the second he turned 18, he changed it to something totally normal. As you do.

Re: Funny Names

My dh is Mexican. I wanted to name our son something really, truly uniquely Mexican, not your garden-variety José or Guadalupe that you can find just about anywhere.

I wanted to name our son Cuauhtémoc. Very Mexican, actually Aztec in origin. We coulda called him Timmy or something. So I suggested it.....and dh threatened me with raising ds a single mom.

So we named him after dh - and dh's name is a common, run of the mill Hispanic name.

Now that I think about it, I'm glad dh won - Cuauhtemoc's story is a sad one!

Re: Funny Names

Nh'Jour - pronounced: nah jour (as in soup de jour!!!)
Mind you... Mom's name was Nevaeh so something like "Nh"Jour" should have been expected!

This thread should be a sticky or something...!!!)

Re: Funny Names

We've had our fair share of Justice for boys. I even know a girl named Justice.

Re: Funny Names

One of the first babies I ever took care of on my own was Beauwolf!
We also had a set of twins, Hunter and Fisher.
That Beauwolf still tops anything I've seen there in 5, going on 6 years now...

Talking Re: Funny Names

The babies named Lemonjello and Orangejello are not urban myths. I first heard about them from our educator when I started two years ago and from other nurses since then. One night, a group of friends and I were talking about weird baby names and I brought up these twins. Low and behold, one of the girls, who is a music teacher, has these twins in her school right now. So the urban myth can be cleared up.

We also had a mom name her daughter Baby Girl because she assumed that we had already named the baby as this what was on the crib card. You never know where names will come from

When I was a little girl, the older lady who stayed at the cottage next to ours was named Baby girl as well. She married a man whose last name was Blue so her leagal name was Baby Blue. (the story she told me was that he dad got so excited filling out the birth certificate that he wrote baby girl whatever on the paper work) So I guess way back the last century (probably 1920 or so ) people were calling the kids baby girl too.

Re: Funny Names

We have a baby boy right now named Foote. I seriously thought that was his last name when i was getting report and the day nurse said " this is baby Foote" ..so i said what is his first name and she said um that is his first name. Pronounced like foot. Baby Foot.
