Well, we already have a sticky about what we love about the NICU.

To the OP - maybe you should check that thread out, too?

Re: Funny/happy NICU moments needed

Just today we discharged twins who had been with us for 12 weeks and gone throug everything there is I think.
The smiles on the parents and the hug and kind words from them were wonderful. This is why I do this, went trough my head. I love my job today.

Talking Re: Funny/happy NICU moments needed

I was reading all of the replies. I laughed so had that I cried, about all of the Al Bundy babies, fighting twins and premies who positions themselves no matter how hard the nurse tries to establish a developmentally correct environment. That is some funny stuff! Thank you for reminding me what a great job I have to look forward to everyday.

I laugh so hard when the baby I'm po feeding finally gets full, and takes on that "milk drunk" look.... then they get all offended when you try to burp them....

I still bawl like a schoolgirl when my primary babies go home, and mom and dad are hugging me and crying, then I'm crying.....etc.......

IT'S ALL THE ESTROGEN IN THE AIR I'VE BEEN EXPOSED TO!...cajones confused and hibernating...yeah right!

I know, man! Look at what all these women are doing to us!

OK guys - what about the phototherapy kids who throw tantrums when you put their eye shields on, then you look back over in a minute and the eye shield is not only off of their face, but it's at the other end of the isolette! Some of these kiddos could pitch for major league teams.

And isn't it funny how they'll scream bloody murder and thrash around when they've got the eye shields on...and then they fall asleep the second they wrestle the shields off? Just blissfully sleeping, eyes uncovered, with a million watts of light shining down on them...

Oh yeah, the photo babies always have their eyeshields everywhere BUT their eyes. Heehee!

Reminds me of the little girl I had that was on nasal cannula. Fiesty little thing! Every time she'd have an A&B I'd look in her isolette and sure enough ..... nasal cannula in her nose? Nope. She'd have it in her eyes, around her neck ...... anywhere BUT her nose!

I love "Eye-PAP". Oh and the poop squirts. Nothing like finding and scrubbing the poop out of isolette after a blow out!

I had a kid recently do a projectile poop onto another kids brand new car seat! Mom really loved that! It was, like, 5ft away!!
