Question To Filter or Not to Filter

Our unit has been having a lot of problems lately with our lipids reading occlusion. We still filter our lipids, but I am curious as to how many other units still do?

Re: To Filter or Not to Filter

We only filter TPN in our unit. Lipids are not filtered at all.

We don't filter IL...they are plugged into the line below the filter.

Re: To Filter or Not to Filter

I have never filtered lipids in 12 years of nursing. You are supposed to hook up the lipids distal to the TPN filter.

At my current facility, we have our lipids mixed in with the TPN, and I prefer it that way.

Maybe you should print this post out and slip in under your clin specs door, ScammRNC. I have never seen lipids filtered.

Re: To Filter or Not to Filter

Well, I knew we were behind with some things here in the Midwest, but I didn't realize we seem to be the only ones filtering. Good to know. Thanks for everyones input.
