Question What is Family Focused Care?

What is your understanding of family focused care? I am helping with trying to educate our staff and familes about this. I need concrete examples of both "good and bad" family centered care that you have seen in your NICU.
For example, when introducing a new bathing protocol in the unit, we were inservicing staff on how to bathe babies. A mother told me that when she came to visit her baby, someone told her that we had used her baby as a "guinea pig". BAD!!!
Please help by sending in other examples of what you've seen in your NICU as good/not so good family focused care.
Thank you
