Do a google search for lactation consultant training programs, there are several out there. A lot of nurses on my unit are lactation certified, but the hospital only has a few positions located on the postpartum unit.
The last hospital I worked for had a dedicated NICU LC, and she was awesome. Any nurse could refer a mom to her at any time, and she made it so easy for them to learn to breastfeed, from cleft palate kids to oral aversions.
