2.5 months til I start NICU - Advice?

Hello fellow NICU lovers! I am a graduate nurse, I take my NCLEX exam in August and I start employment in a level 4 NICU in September. Do you have any advice on things I can do now to prep? I am hoping to be able to buy the neonatal handbook soon and read up on that. I have a 14 week orientation that starts in September but I'd love to be able to have even more understanding ahead of time.

I did my senior preceptorship in a level 3 NICU but really did mostly feed/grow babies feedings, assessments and meds...I didn't get to do a whole lot of other stuff, though I did do some NG tubes and such.

So any advice on resources to review before I start would be great. Thanks!

There's nothing like getting the actual experience on the unit, so that's my advice...you'll learn a lot on the job.

Enjoy your downtime, de-stress as much as possible, you will learn a lot in orientation and on the floor.

Maybe its level three and I am just putting the wrong number in there? I don't know! They have acuity levels in the nicu's here but I could have written the wrong number down!
