Palm / PDA for LPN program

Hello

I am getting ready to start an LPN program at Rets Tech in the beginning of August. I have read a lot of post on here about using a Palm or other PDA with the different medical software. My question is, do you really that that it is worth the money to buy the Palm and all the software? Do you really get a use out of it while in classes and clinicals? Or would it not really be used until you are in the field?

Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.

Re: Palm / PDA for LPN program

I have used mine in class and in clinicals. I find it great having so much information readily available at my fingertips. If you are tight on funds, you can also do without it.
Best of luck,
C.

My school doesn't allow us to use them. I have one but really only use it for the internet and you don't need a Palm for that.

Re: Palm / PDA for LPN program

I had one but the screen cracked and I couldn't afford to replace it. No insurance either. In any case, my life (like everybody elses ) was nuts for quite a few years. I am very, very scatterbrained and disorganized. To deal with that, when I realized it was a serious problem I decided to combat it head on.

I make lists for absolutely EVERYTHING. My house has to be spotless (I'm a very messy person.) and every single thing I own goes in the same place, at the same time, every time. I keep to a strict schedule and never deviate from it.

I then got a pda/cell phone deal..a tmobile dash. I managed real estate at the time, and the office of a manufacturing company as well. it was absolutely PERFECT FOR ME!!!

I know this is a l ong post but, they help TREMENDOUSLY with organization. As far as school goes though, I know mine doesn't allow them. As soon as I can afford a new one though, I'll definitely be getting it. It helps a lot for people like me.

I got a Palm since I'm a gadget freak and have been using a palm since the late 90's

So far I've put on trial versions of davis drug guide and tabers since these are the texts we use and lpn notes all from skyscape. I'll figure out in the next week or two which ones are worth buying.

Thank you all for your replies. I think that I am going to go ahead and get my Palm. I am such a gadget freak as well. I think that it will make things a lot easier.
