Hi Want2benurse!!

Where exactly in ny are you located? because there are two lpn schools in suffolk county...eastern and western suffolk boces. I know that there's an 11 and a 17 month program at eastern suffolk boces. You would still have time to apply and take the NET and be accepted in sept. 08!! Good Luck!!!!

I am a 2nd semester student now. And Boy...the only thing I can advice you is to hold on for the ride. Its very challanging and very time demanding.Especially with care plans(which U will found out later ).You will learn how to manage your time really quick, believe me. #1 advice ...get adaquate sleep and if your not working thats even better. The tests you will have on top of clinical and care plans will take up most of your time.Say bye bye to your social life as well, if your really social like myself. And starbucks will be your best friend.

I dont mean to scare you these are some survival tips i learned on my own when I started 1st semester. Good Luck and you will have so much fun and learn so much.

You have no idea how on point you are! LOL I was recently accepted into the LPN program back in October. I remember the day I received my acceptance letter; I'd already had the interview with the instructors and thought for sure they'd reject me! LOL When the letter came, I was so afraid to open it, but I was absolutely ecstatic when I read otherwise!

But, like you said, it really is demanding, but oh so worth it, and I can't believe how much fun I'm having just learning! The program I'm enrolled in is 18 months (part time evening program). Since I don't work, I thought I was getting off easy, but boy was I wrooong! It's just as demanding, and being a wife and mother of three small children, I find I need all the sleep I can get!

We're just finishing up CORE, and are due to begin Fundamentals soon. Wish me luck I can stay afloat!

Hello all! I am not a student yet, but I have taken my entrance test and should hear around Christmas if I am accepted! I am looking forward to getting to 'know' you all and have someone to consult on the journey to becoming a nurse!

Re: New LPN students??

I start my LPN program January 14, 2008. It is a part-time program, ending in Dec 2009. I will go two days a week and then eventually start clinicals 1 weekend day. I will be working full-time, so wish me luck! My work is paying for it. Does anyone know anything about the stafford loan? I would like to cut way back at work and just take out a loan. If anyone has any info for, that would be great! Congrats to all.
