Smile New to board..getting ready to take exam

Hello everyone,

This is my first post but I have been lurking for awhile. I have found so many of your posts to be very helpful to me...thank you all for your wonderful advice offered to others.

I am 33 years old and I am going to be taking my entrance exam on March 31. I thought I was smart until I started taking the math portions. It's amazing how you forget your math knowledge when you haven't used it in years.

The test I am taking is the Arnett entrance exam. Anyone else ever take this one? I have been studying several guides so I hope I am prepared on test day.

I am sure I have alot more questions but I just wanted to introduce myself for now.

Thanks in advance for any advice!!

Welcome to our forums!

I, too, have extreme difficulties with math. While I have never heard of the entrance exam you mentioned, your local bookstore should have study materials that are aimed to prepare for nursing entrance exams. Good luck to you!

Re: New to board..getting ready to take exam

Thanks for the welcome. I did pick up several books at Barnes and Noble. The Algebra is what is stumping me. The funny thing is that it takes me quite a bit of time to do the practice tests for that subject..and then I get more than I would like wrong. My son, who is in sixth grade, has taken the same test with me. He gets it done in half the time and gets them all right. It makes me feel not so smart.

Are the vocab words on these entrance exams as hard as the practice book words? Some of these words I have never even heard of.

I have been waiting a very long time to start nursing school. I had alot of obstacles in my way over the last ten years. I have worked in a health related field for many years. I am really excited to begin this.
