2009 Grads! Come 1 Come ALL!

I thought it would be nice to have a 2009 Grad Thread we can share are joys, fears, stories (hippa permitting) Just to relieve the stress.

I am a 25 y.o. wife and mother of 3 girls ages 7,5 and 1. I have been in the medical field since 2001, but took all Allied health classes in high school. I am in my first of four semesters, doing the evening program, lasting 15 months.

Right now I am not really doing any core nursing classes, just A&P, nutrition and nurs 110 which is basically a 'history of nursing' class.

I was a paramedic, I have a degree in medical office management and STNA. I have taken the long route into nursing but finally feel I have found the right path. I graduate in July of 2009 and plan on entering ADN in Aug of 2009.

Come join me!!

Re: 2009 Grads! Come 1 Come ALL!

Well I am 22, starting my program in August, graduating next Augustour program is only 12 months. I started out in a traditional university so I have all my pre-req's out of the way. I barely missed the bar into the BSN program and I didnt want to waste another year or money (taking classes that have no relevance to what I want to do) so I decided to do the LPN. I plan on working a year or less(I really need a break from school) then going on and getting my RN so that I can work in Labor and Delivery.

So that's my story

Re: 2009 Grads! Come 1 Come ALL!

I am a 34 year old mother of 4, and will start the core nursing classes in August, and finish in May. I have a Bachelor's degree so I had most of my pre-req's out of the way. I also plan on working as an LPN for a few years, and then going for an RN to work in L&D. I work right now as a birth doula, and LOVE it! I am worried about being gone all day, then needing to study all evening, and how my husband will handle the kids. We will see, I figure we can get through a nine month program without too much catastrophe! I am also nervous about studying again, it's been a long time since I was in college!

Re: 2009 Grads! Come 1 Come ALL!

Hi! I started an "11-month" program May 5, and will finish April 24, 2009. Clinical orientation was yesterday. Earlier this week we finished A&P and started Pharmacology. Our first Pharm lab is Monday and we'll be learning to check blood sugars, as well as intradermal and subcutaneous injections. Everything is flying by so fast--the individual days feel long sometimes, but I feel like it was just a couple days ago that I got my acceptance letter, and here I am finishing week 4! Already there are plans in the works to rent a party bus for after our pinning. I'm sure it'll be here in no time.

Re: 2009 Grads! Come 1 Come ALL!

Well, as you all know, I'm 31, married, and have four great kids. I'm in a part time program that is 22 months long. I will graduate November 19, 2009. Yeah! I have a bachelors degree in education, but I really love nursing and would like to continue my education after I graduate. At this point, I believe I will enroll in ISU's LPN to BSN program.
Good luck to you all.

I got my acceptance letter yesterday, so I'm with you guys! I start in September and graduate in Aug. '09. Hooray! I have two children 5 years old and 8 years old. It's been a long time since I've been in school so I'm nervous about it, but also REALLY excited!

Re: 2009 Grads! Come 1 Come ALL!

i started last September, we will be graduating next January. 16 month program, nights and weekends. I'm ready for it to be over. I'm disappointed in my school and the way it is run. we've had it pretty tough so far, losing 30 of our original 45 students. We are half way through. I'm also trying to plan a wedding for next March, woohoo!
