Fabulous site

I have been an allnurses member for a while (I think for at least 3 years), mainly lurking and reading jokes and such. I have told at least one person a week about allnurses and how versatile, educational and fun it can be. I wish you all at allnurses all the best luck in the world. You have been there for me through the entire process of nursing school, and although I didn't post a lot, reading all of the advice truly helped me cope with the stresses of school. Soon I will be a RN giving advice to others that were in the same predicament as I was. I can't wait!

Allnurses is a life saver!

Well maybe not literally, however, allnurses.com got me through the tough times in nursing school when I first found it. Now as an ICU nurse it has been there with support, might I say LOVE, when I have needed that. I try to get online when I can to offer support to others.

Thanks Brian! Would never have made through nursing school without allnurses!

My Lifeline to My Fellow Nurses

I came here looking to tell my story of retaliatory termination and get insight from fellow nurses on my situation, I got that a so much more. What I found was a group of caring intelligent individuals who totally understood where I came from. They gave me advice, comfort, support and hope for a good outcome.

I was surprised to connect with other nurses on the Nursing Activism/ Health Care Politics forum, who were going through the same thing I was and we were able to exchange information and resources for nurses who are wrongfully terminated for being true to the principles we were taught in nursing school . Much lively and sometimes heated debate about Universal Health care kept me glued to my computer all day at times. The Union Forum also has been a jumpin' forum, especially of late. Have learned so much about unionization, from those pro and con.

In the Retired or Inactive Nurses and Disabled nurses forums, I was able to connect with other nurses such as myself with a disability that keeps them from working as a nurse.I was heartened to know I was not alone.

My favorite forum,in the Break Room, Current Events and then Election 2008 has kept me occupied and kept my mind active since I no longer work.I love the Military Support Thread for family members of those serving in the military, have shared fears, prayers and support there.

I end by saying THANK YOU to Brian for getting ALLNURSES started and to the wonderful staff of administrators and moderators. Thanks for not kicking me off the forum and for the polite and gentle reminders of the TOS. I probably give some of them gray hair! I have met some AMAZING nurses here from all over the country and the world. Love you guys and gals.

I'll be here with my fellow nurses at Allnurses.com for many years to come.

This is my home!!!

I am here almost every day, at least once. I have laughed here, cried here, been comforted here, and even slapped around here. I have good friends that I have never even seen a photo of, that are very dear to me (love you too, Mac!). When I was being investigated last year and was then fired, AN friends picked me up by my bootstraps and held me up until I could hold myself up. When I've posted fears they've reassured me. When I needed prayers I got them.

I even like the moderation. While I don't agree with all the mods' decisions I do agree with most of them and I appreciate their efforts to keep this a safe place. I was chased away from a non-moderated board because of cruelty, and I can honestly say that with very few exceptions, there is no one that I don't feel relatively safe with here. We're even able to have a lively discussion about opposing views, then shake hands at the end!

What an amazing place for students!

I have to say that allnurses has been a grade saver for me! There are SO SO SO SO many of you, already full fledged nurses, who take time from your day to come answer, what must seem such obvious mundane questions for those of us on our nursing school journey. So many of you like Daytonite and Ericenerfermo, Tweety, Suzanne and RNKaren (and COUNTLESS OTHERS) come to the rescue day in and day out. You just don't know what a HUGE help you all are.

So, to all of you who are students and those waiting to be, this IS THE PLACE to get assistance from a group of people who don't have to, but do CARE!

BLESS YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:heartbe at

I was referred to AN while in nursing school 3 years ago. I don't visit as frequently as I once did, but AN is an amazingly useful, humorous, supportive site. I enjoy it that members from all over the world are here posting about their experiences. I like the Nurses in Recovery forum. Almost every time I visit AN, I go to Nursing Humor. I can always find a good laugh there. Sometimes, I cry in empathy or joy reading another person's experiences. I especially appreciate the professionalism (Thank you, Brian and the moderators) that is insisted upon. I've visited other nursing websites, but AN surpasses them all by FAR. I love it! Keep up the outstanding job!

ALLNURSES - Part of my life

I am coming up on my 4th year with ALLNURSES. In the beginning, I was taking my prerequisites, waiting to get into LPN school. Now, I've been an LPN for 2 years and going through Excelsior for my RN.

Throughout all this time, I have relied on ALLNURSES for guidance and answers. I've found it difficult to get straight answers to my questions from teachers and now fellow nurses. However, eventually I always get what I need from the nurses and nursing students here.

I've looked at other forums, but honestly after ALLNURSES, they don't really make sense to me. I find myself saying, "well, the nurses on ALLNURSES say"; and when one of my nurse friends is having a work-related problem, I say " Have you discussed it on ALLNURSES".

I'm truly grateful for this forum. What would I have done without it???????

My Virtual Family and Friends

I have been a member on this site since 2002, while websurfing, and have seen a lot of growth.

Brian, you are a very caring master of all our needs and wants. Thank you for all you have done for us.

Since I'm currently disabled, and unable to go very far, Allnurses is my favorite website where I converse, feel loved and even hugged at times; always receiving encouragement when I needed it.

It also allows me to share myself, and be of some help through some of the threads, like the prayer thread, gain info from the pulmo thread, and always through the humor thread and the good morning area where I frequent often.

You are my main link to the outside world, and I love this site more than you can imagine.

AllNurses helps me GROW as a Nurse

I randomly found allnurses.com one day when surfing for a place to find answers for myself while I was in school. I tell everyone about this site because most of the time, they have not heard of "news" before me and I always tell them, "I heard it on allnurses.com."

The nurses here on this site are always willing to lend a hand to everyone. They're always supportive of the new graduates, which makes a huge difference!! Suzanne's NCLEX test plan for new graduates is a very clear example of the unity and help here at allnurses. I used it and passed. With time, I hope to become the best nurse I can with the online direction of the nurses here and of course the dedication within me.

This website gives me empowerment as a nurse and gives me the continuous motivation to stand up for what is right in the world of health care, my patients and of course, NURSING! I'm glad you're here allnurses.com, you're making a difference in the world of nursing!!

Allnurses is the greatest resource for nurses, nursing students, etc.

This is a great asset to all in nursing field. I discovered this site back in 2001. There are so many great threads. This would have been nice to have when I was in nursing school back in 1995-1996. I didn't get a computer until 1999.

I have come on here asking various questions while I was working. Someone has always helped me out. And, I was really pleased to see the "nurses with disabilities" thread. I took a hiatus from this site when I was sick and no longer in nursing. But, I came back last summer, when I started to think about returning to nursing. Many people have helped me on this site. I have not returned to work, yet. I am still exploring, but I am getting very good info from this site on my journey. It is nice to know there are others in a similar predicament as mine. Hopefully, I willl be able to help out others on this board, someday. I will pay it forward when I have the opportuity to do so.

Thank you for this site. You have helped more than you know!

Allnurses Makes A Difference in My Life

I found Allnurses when I was a nursing student--way back in 2003! I was a "nontraditional" student. Not just older but also doing distance learning. It left me with quite a void in my life.

Then I found allnurses. I found friends, advice, support, information, a place to hang out, and even people to grapple with over significant issues.

I'm not here as often as I'd like to be now, but I do get involved in the Christmas Card activity each year, and when I have an odd moment, I come to see what's going on.

In a time when neighborhoods are isolated, people don't have time to just sit outside together and "be," this group fills the void. That it is about nursing and nurses, that we can come here and be heard and understood, that we have fast friends among the membership, that just adds to the wonder and mystery of it all.

Nice going, Brian! Thank you!

I Luv, Luv, Luv ALLNURSES!!!

I absolutely LUV Allnurses!

I have been a member since September 2001. It didn't take long for me to become addicted to ths nursing website. I used to frequent another nursing website, and found that it was not friendly to newcomers.

Allnurses has always been friendly to me, caring, loving, praying for me when I needed prayer, and encouraging me when I needed encouraging.

A few members have even helped me out financially when I was in a serious life-change, and found myself in financial straits. Sometimes I had to frequent the library to use their computer just so I could stay in-touch with my Allnurses Buddies. They genuinely care about one another, and I genuinely care about them.

I have learned a lot from reading tons of threads, getting to know other nurses in America as well as from nurses around the world. Where else can I go in a nanno second and make friends around the world but on the world wide web? Nowhere. Many members on Allnurses are as close to my heart as my friends are who live near me. I've met a few Allnurses in person, share many things with some on a personal level, and think the Owner of Allnurses (Brian) deserves a standing ovation for creating the best nursing website on the world wide web.

Thank you Brian for putting your "brain power" to work and creating this site for us to enjoy...to be addicted to.

Thank you to each Allnurses Moderator who helps Brian in keeping this website in topnotch order for its members.

During my very trying time over the past couple years, I came to realize how much I was loved and cared about from so many loving and caring members here at Allnurses.

Thank you to each member who extends of their hearts to make another member (especially a member in need as I was) feel cared for, wanted, missed, and loved. God bless each one of you.

AN Has Taken On The Profession!

AN is the biggest concept to come to nursing in my 30 years of experience. I'm proud to say that its my only addiction. I don't look for touchy-feely or give touchy-feely on the website but appreciate the comfort it gives to people who are looking for that kind of experience. Nursing attracts people from all different walks of life, people with vastly different life experiences and educations. I am constantly humbled by the total sum of knowledge on this discussion board (and yes, totally annoyed by the not so bright bulbs). I am also glad that the AN Board recognized the wisdom of a site for nurses in recovery.

This is like a virtual lounge for me, that I never want to leave.

This is like a virtual lounge for me, that I never want to leave. Each time I am about to get off of the computer, I will get a flash saying "New Email from Allnurses.com" and then, I hang out a bit longer to see what is happening, who commented on my posts, or what is happening with some of my favorite members.

It is therapeutic, helpful to my career, has saved my sanity and bridged nurses closer together. I feel that I am really a nurse when I can share my concerns, issues and triumphs here. And, that I do have a general understanding on the issues being discussed. Allnurses is my Internet family, and I love you all.

Growing up with all nurses

Hello all,

We lets see if I can be a eloquent as everyone else ....

I found allnurses.com, god only knows how long ago, when I was recruiting nurses for a travel nurse company. At that time I was an aide, with no real aspirations for growth in the medical field though its the only profession that has ever interested me or where I felt the need to go to work everyday.

I started reading the posts of the other wives and moms out there struggling through school to obtain a degree and began thinking about that 6th grade teacher who told me "you are only smart enough to flip burgers". I really didn't like him, or the fact I might have let him define me. So the more posts I read, the more I realized why not become a nurse and indulge my love of medicine and get paid for it.

I also remembered how much a hospice nurse named Hazel helped me when my grandmother was dying , her caring and concern for the whole family touched me in so many ways... she taught me to tie my shoes . To become a part of the elite few who can proudly say they are nurses is an honor. Allnurses.com encouraged me, and I made it through LPN school. Allnurses.com was there for advise as I decided on alternate ways to finish, and become an RN. I am now directly enrolled in excelsior and have not only a world of classmates with very diverse educations, backgrounds, and opinions, I also have an endless source of knowledge from which to draw from professionally, education wise and personally.

There are days I think my poor husband will divorce me if he has to hear me cry over losing another patient, or listen to me gripe because a doctor is doing nothing for a patient simply because she is 94. Just the other day I found information from another nurse who created a flow sheet for the behaviors and modification techniques for an alzheimers pt who had me ready to tear out my hair. I have learned how to be a nurse from my instructors, now I am learning how to be exceptional and forgiving of myself from all of you. So thank you for allowing me to become one of the elite.... A NURSE

Brian-"The Best of the Best"

I'm SO happy that I found allnurses.com.

It was about 4-5 years ago that I stumbled on this site--I've been hooked ever since. Sometimes, I don't get out here as much as I'd like to, but, I know it's always there for me. Brian has listened to my rants, raves , praises, jokes, dumb questions, successes, failures, and vents.

Journeling has been a creative outlet for my feelings after my husband died.:

My husband, Doug, also loved allnurses. He started here as a student and was grateful to learn that he wasn't the only guy in the field. Let alone a middle aged guy with a 3rd career as a registered nurse. Everyone here encouraged him, supported him, cheered with us when he graduated and passed his boards, and cried with us when he died 4 months later.

Were it not for Brian, no allnurses

What an empty place it would be in cyberspace without him (and his team)

THANKS BRIAN for everything!!

I'm grateful!!

Im Addicted!!

Hi all you wonderful people out there! I was truely blessed when I "stumbled" across "allnurses". I have only been a member for maybe 2 months now and I spend at least an hour a day on here! The posts and articles have been heartfelt, educational, and sometimes humourous!
I am a second year nursing student and I am sure I will be here still reading in my 20th year of nursing! I just adore this site and everything it offers, love being able to express own opinions and views in a safe manner with people who share and understand so much of what a student nurse and a nurse go through on a daily basis. I am blessed to be a part of such a fabulous bunch of beautiful people! Thank you so much!!!! Special thanks to Brian.
