Loved my first week as a private duty nurse!

I have to let it be known, I loved my first week as a private duty nurse!

After only one day of training, I had my routine down and could not belive how well it went. I had had time to sit and talk with my pt, make him laugh, talk more than he has in the past 2 months!

I also got to teach mom a few things about pt's G tube, how to keep his rick of GI distress down!

I will be working with this pt and family 3 evenings a week for 6 hours each night.

I get to be home with my family every night and not have to leave when they get to go to sleep!

I do believe I have found my calling, after 5 years on a very busy med/surge floor, it feels sooooooo great not to have to rush, listen to co-workers, I can actually leave work on time!!

WOW, I just can't get over how well it is going and just wanted to share my with all nurses!

Glad to hear that you are enjoying your new position and hope you continue to have positive experiences. Assume that you are with the Maxim office you asked about in another thread and that you are finding them easy to work with. Yes, working in the home is nursing's best kept secret!
