A month ago I felt like crud..

..and now have been sober for 30+ days. Not too many people know, so my cheering section has been kinda small. Don't need a ticker-tape parade, just feeling blessed, healthy, and positive and wanted to share the joy. Finally totally "got" that I could never regress to being a social drinker again, though Lord knows I tried!!!

Life is good--now if I could just lose the brand new sweet tooth I have developed instead..

Good for you! Thanks for posting. I remember so well the first 30 days. Keep doing what you are doing, it is working. I found what I always felt I was missing in AA 19 months ago, and I have never had it so good.

Congratulations! Glad you chose to celebrate with us! Recovery is for those who want it, not necessarily those who need it.

Re: A month ago I felt like crud..

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The first 30 days seemed like forever for me, now I just "celebrated" my 7th month clean and I wonder where the time has flown.

Sweet tooth, hehe, I traded pills for mm's (and gained 20 pounds, ugh)

Anyway, best wishes to you!

I'm so proud of you!!! Those first 30 days are definitely the toughest, and I can assure you that it'll never be quite that hard again. I can also tell you from experience that you'll probably go through times of 'dry drunks', where you feel negative and sorry for yourself (it's called "Stinkin' Thinkin") and basically do everything wrong EXCEPT take a drink. But you learn something new every time, and as you put more and more time between you and that last drink, you grow more and more confident in your ability to continue in your life of sobriety. And one day, it'll be a whole YEAR since your last drink........then five.........then ten.........and so on.

You can do this.

PM me if you ever need support, a crying towel, or just a reason NOT to drink.
