otoscope /ophthalmoscope

This Fall, I will be taking health assessment for my adult NP program. We were told that we will need an otoscope ophthalmoscope. Can anyone recommend a decent affordable brand, and where to purchase it? Thank you.

I'm in the same boat. I hate the thought of having to spend more money. My books alone for this semester are over $400.

Re: otoscope /ophthalmoscope

Our school arranged for Welch/Allenn reps to sell sets at a reduced price. I cheaped out and bought a set on Ebay and it was total crap. I used my preceptors otoscope for clinicals and checked out sets from the school of nursing in order to practice for my check-offs and practicums.

I have, however, realized the value of a good otoscope. I am currently saving $$ for the new one by Welch- Allen that REALLY maginifies the inner ear. The panoptic opthalmascope is *TOTALLY AMAZING* and if I find I will be using one a lot I will buy that one.
