Hi, I was just wondering if anyone wore crocs to work? I've heard some controversy about insurance companies not allowing them to danger of tripping. I admit that I have 2 pairs although I think they are really ugly (due to the holes). They are really comfy, my feet feel just fine after a 12 hour day, but I also have noticed that I do tend to almost trip in them often. Anyone else have any opinions.

I used to wear them and did trip a fair bit, but I'm not graceful in general. I now wear Z coils and love them.... odd that I don't trip as much in them.

I haven't bought any Crocs but thought about it. Every one says that they are comfy beyond belief but ugle as H##L. Funny thing about the tripping complaint though. . .

I turn my ankles out ALL of the time with my Danskos that it really is more hurt than worth.

You don't have to get the ones with the holes. The Metro style has openings around the front of the shoe (ventilation holes), but does not have the holes on top. I have also found that the Metro style fits my foot better (which was my main complaint about the Beach model - they were either way too big or way too small). They also make a style called the Highland, which doesn't have any openings at all, but I prefer the Metro. They are not available in such a wide variety of colors as the Beach style, but they are still comfortable. As far as tripping, our facility requires us to wear the strap behind the heel, rather than wearing them like clogs, due to the tripping risk, but with the strap, I do not have problems with getting tripped up.

So I was walking down the hallway one night, getting ready to clock out. This nice looking ER intern is walking towards me - I'm trying to.... you know...look cool and I fall flat on my freaking face in my Crocs. I was so freaking embarrassed.

Only saving grace, I saw this jack a&& of a radiologist trip one day when walking through our unit. I laughed for hours.

So yes, it is possible to trip in them. I've tripped or almost tripped in all models, with and without the strap. It doesn't matter.

LOVE crocs!
Funny, I thought I was just a clumsy person. But, I do tend to trip a lot. Well, not trip really, but my foot sticks to the floor or something while the rest of my body is still moving. Mine don't have any holes in them at all. If you go to their website you can see that they are comming out with boots! Of course, I have no need for them (rainy season over), but I love crocs, so any new product intrests me.

I trip all the time in my Crocs! It doesn't help that the unit just had the floors treated with this wax that's supposed to stay shiny for a 6-12 months at a time - and it's really tacky feeling to all of us, we're all tripping. It's just that those of us with Crocs trip more because they're so rubbery, they seem to stay stuck to the floor while you want to walk, and you end up looking like an idiot!!!

I have the Metro - love them because the top is covered but there are still ventilation holes at the side. Very comfortable, silent when you walk, feel squishy under your feet, and NEVER SMELL bad even after 12 hours! Can't beat that for $40!

So yeah, you do trip more. But it's not like falling tripping, just the embarrassing kind of tripping!

Just got my first pair in the mail today... have to wait until Mon to wear them in the OR and see from there. I did get the Metro style... no holes on top but vents on the bottom. I call them my Mississippi shoes because everyone was wearing them while I was down there. I haven't seen them in hospitals or anywhere here yet (whoo hoo! I've never been near the beginning of a trend before, LOL) If I like them, I'll try other colours! I don't waer leather so they really interested me and love that they come in brown and a sandal style for home. So far comparing to my "Dusty" Klogs, which were "oh, so comfy" esp "at first":

The klogs got less comfy as the day went on and as they got older...not supposed to happen with crocs

I got sore shins after running in klogs- I think it was "gripping" with my toes... not only do crocs have a heel strap they are much, much lighter.

I did sort of bump my toes sometimes while walking in my klogs, but I do have an ataxic gait naturally. Again, I think the weight of the klog made it worse. time will tell!

The closed klog got... well... smelly... ick... even after punching a few holes in the side and using powder, spray, etc. Embarassing to take off in the locker room. Good to hear these might be better!

Anyone tried the knock-off version from airwalks they were selling at payless? They look just like them but I was wondering if they were just as comfortable...

I love my crocs.....have 5 pairs.....never had any problems with tripping....just have a problem choosing what color to purchase next.
