Re: My feet are killing me

I had an experienced nurse tell me that New Balance 579's were pretty good. I got them and still found my feet hurt. I got some of those Dr. Scholl's squishy gel inserts that you put inside the shoes and it really helps. I will tell you that when I started my new job I bought a brand new pair of generic white sneakers and by the second hour of the shift I was already in pain, so I got out my old New Balance's and the difference was immediate. They don't get me through the whole day, but I last much longer than with the new shoes...

My feet LOVE Danskos too. I have a few pair of crocs too and I like them too.

I have heard really good things about Asics (sp) too.

Re: My feet are killing me

I just bought a new pair of shoes, I'll keep you posted on how they work out. They're a brand called Keen's, which is primarily known for sport sandals. a fairly new company, maybe 4 years old. I bought a pair of their walking sandals (that have a toe cap, so they're almost more like a sneaker with cutouts) over 3 years ago, have worn them nearly every day, they are still in fabulous shape.

They have a mary-jane style which I just purchased expressly for work. I figure the sandals are the most comfortable things I have ever had on my feet, I'll definitely give the mary-janes a shot. They also have a hiking shoe I tried on that was amazing. I've been wearing the mary-janes for about 3 days, just around the house and running errands, and I can tell you that they are fabulous so far. We'll see what the first shift at work brings! They also have a slip-proof sole, which is a definite plus over the crocs I have been wearing.

Good luck in your search for shoes.

Re: My feet are killing me

Hey guys--
I have major back problems, and one of the girls that I worked with had these weird looking shoes on. They are called Z-Coils. They are expensive --$200.00 a pair , but let me tell you something!!!! I bought a pair of them, thinking, "Oh well, I go thru a pair of Rebocks every 3 months, I'll try anything." That was a year ago, and I have bought a second pair just to wear when I go out shopping, or where-ever. I still am wearing my original pair at work. These are the BEST things that I have ever put on my feet!!! They have a coil on the heel of the shoe that absorbs the shock of walking, and I SWEAR , I don't have any problems walking up and down the hall all night, and my legs and back do not hurt as bad, and I can sleep without spasms the next morning!!!!! You can't but them online, but there is a website that you can go to that will point you to your closest dealer.
By the way, the heel and spring on the shoe can be replaced, the only time you have to buy a new pair of shoes is when the sole of the shoe wears out.

Re: My feet are killing me

Not to offend anyone, but if your overweight, it might be time to lose weight and start a fitness program. I have plantar fascitis and achilles tendonitis (ruck marching, and running with rucksacks in the Army), knee pain, back pain, and it doesn't help that I have pancake flat feet, nothing seemed to work. I have been to physical therapy (3x times), had custom made orthotics, tried ALL kinds of shoes, gel insoles, etc. The one thing that has helped eleviate the most pain has actually been losing weight and exercising. I still have 20lbs to lose but as I was losing weight the pain in my knee started to disappear. My back does not hurt as much, I'm no longer taking pain killers everyday for it.

I started to work out my calf, quads, and hamstrings, and noticed my feet started to hurt less. If you can't run start with the swimming pool. I think I lost the most weight just from doing swimming aerobics, and running in the swimming pool, now I just run on tracks. I know you see old people do this but it works and you burn calories. Or start biking, then eliptical or rowing machine, then treadmill or better yet a track that has RUBBERIZED material or suspension track at most large gyms (they have recoil material to bounce back and eleviate pressure). I do not recommend running on concrete.

Well that's good, I can see me tripping all over the place with those springs. I'm almost afraid to ask them the price tho'.

LOL

I just read your other post.

*whew*

$200 isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Sure that's expensive, but my imagination was going crazy here, especially after reading their site (custom fitted?). Thought I'd need to take out a 2nd mortgage.
I don't care... I'm at the point where I have to find something that works. My daughter is always commenting on how many shoes I have. Failed experiments

Ah well, she shouldn't complain---she gets my rejects lol.
