Can anyone recommend a really good brand of shoes which will help his painful flat feet? Anyone with that problem and what has helped?
tks
Hi,
Initially I was going to post that this forum is not for medical advice, yet, I see you are a member since 2004.
So, I can only offer my personal opinion and not medical advice and since I've been a runner since 1980 I've got some personal opinion which has been substantiated by various reports and advice from others through the years.
This is based on flat feet and high arched feet, the two extremes.
If you have flat feet or no arch your feet are very flexible and you will need a very stable shoe.
If you have high arch your feet are very solid and you will need a very flexible shoe.
So, I wear very flexible shoes since I have a high arched solid foot, (I wear non-stabilizing and cushy shoes). Someone with flat feet that overpronates would likely want to wear shoe with heel stabilizers and mid foot lateral protection. Running shoe stores "may" be able to help but, not all of the employees are aware of this because not all of them have a clue.
You can easily surf the web for shoes with mid foot and heel stablizing action.
Best,
Gen
