I am really finding more often that nurses are DESPERATE to find an answer to their bad feet. During the past few weeks, I have seen more types of orthotics than I ever dreamed possible, different medications and treatment plans offered by podiatrists, different shoe brands that I would never have paid attention to before. I am so grateful that I discovered the answer for myself and hope it remains. I purchased a pair of orthotics for $250, had the shots and am now wearing New Balance, and am 95% better. I still suffer a bit from stiffness when I first place my feet on the ground in the mornings, but a bit of walking helps it. Also, at the end of the day, when I actually remove my sneaks/orthotics, there is a bit of pain, but, after placing a cold water bottle on my feet, the pain numbs, and I am better (this is happening less and less). During the day, while I walk, I feel like I am on air, and it is nice!! I am forcing myself to walk more in the mornings, now. Thus far, I can walk about 20 blocks, and want to increase to my pre-plantar fasciitis days of walking two miles religiously either on the treadmill or outside while the weather is getting nicer. Oh...the value of painless feet!!

My orthotic inserts cost me about $250 dollars.....but I have had the same set for about 7 years and they are going strong. Glad you found something that helps you.

another good thing i found for PF is to wear a night splint...most of them are $50 but they are worth it. it keeps the fascia stretched at night so you don't have that pain in the morning. if the orthotics don't work, you might try the z-coil shoes they are wonderful...i've been down the road with orthotics and shoes and found these to be old feet to be pain free

'SAS'? Is that an acronym for something? Inquiring minds want to know...

I've always wanted to try night splints...where did you purchase yours? I don't get pain in the morning like I used to, but I get stiffness that has to be walked out. I think I saw some in a comfort shoe store, but it is not easily assessible. I am also going to get a pair of the z-coil shoes. Many people think they are ugly-I don't...just unique. But, I will never let my feet hurt me, EVER again to the point that my quality of life is ruined.

Thanks! I always take shoe suggestions. You never know...some things that start out great change and we have to know what else to try. I'll try and see these shoes on Zappos.com.

SAS doesn't do online ordering. They do have outlet stores however, there's one near where I live. They run upwards of $100 per pair and look very "old lady-ish," no offense meant. It's just that I took one look at them and realized my ex mother in law has about 40 pair of shoes in that style.
My new balance clog-style sneaker things are a little worn just on the part that is at the very back of what would be the heel, otherwise after two years they're in very good shape. The insoles are kinda flat, though. I went to their store and (spent too much, if you ask my hubby) got their insoles to try out. The sport ones are good, inexplicably their medial arch is farther forward than it was on the original insole. After about 30 minutes on my feet I don't notice, and they feel good to work in. The Pressure relief ones have a wonky "bubble" like thing almost smack in the middle of the foot, which feels kinda springy. It's good for exactly what it says, relief, NOT running around like a chicken with my head cut off. The two nights I tried that one were vastly different and so were the results at the end. The not too hectic night, I felt good; the hectic night in them left me limping.
So I'm probably gonna take the pressure relief insoles to work, stick 'em in the locker, and wear 'em PRN but not for a whole shift.

Crocs are the best shoes EVER and are reasonably priced. I find Danskos too heavy.
