Re: First Year Nurses, what footwear do you swear by?

Nurses I know love New Balance. I have never understood that. I have tried my Nike cross training shoes and that does not work either. Right now I am into Crocs with knee high compression stockings. In clinicals, I wore compression stockings all the way up, under my white scrub pants. I tried Dansko clogs, the Ingrid model. Maybe it was not the right fit but it did not live up to my expectations considering the price and they"hype". Some of the "older" nurses I have known have raved about SAS shoes. There is no teacher like trial and error. Shoes are an investiment and they are tax deductible as uniform expense, necessary for nurses to do their job.

Thanks everyone for the input. I went for a fitting today and tried Danskos needless to say I am not impress. Everyone raves about them. When I tried them on, they felt as if they were going to fall off. I tried smaller ones and they were too tight...mind you I have fat little feet. Some say they take a while to get used to...is this true???

Well, I'm a "younger" nurse who loves SAS shoes. They are very expensive at $115 per pair, but they also work well for my short and plump feet.

I like crocs. Sometimes I work 4 day 12 hours. My feet and legs never hurt. If you have a store called Shoe Station where you live, they sell a brand called Quarx, they are very inexpensive (39.99) and comfortable.

Re: First Year Nurses, what footwear do you swear by?

Hello, well, I have gone through so many types of shoes it is unreal, now I am older and .....finally found a pair of shoes that don't hurt my feet, but I don't work in the hospital. I wear a clog made by Privo, a division of Clarks. It's a driving clog. And I wear compression socks. I am a new HH nurse, and I walk, bend, squat, and drive a lot! Best advice, try on lots of different shoes, late in the day, when your feet are tired, and possibly swollen, and try the light compression socks or hose, whichever you prefer? I like socks, but my legs only swell below the knees. I also have extremely WIDE feet, lol, good luck.

Hey, for you Dansko wearers out there, they have a website with their "seconds." It's www.danskooutlet.com. I have ordered from this site in the past, and loved everything I got from them.
