our company has released policy changes forbidding us to wear Crocs, due to the popularity of the ones with holes in the front. The simple solution? Get the closed-toe variety! But no, none of the styles have a closed-back. The heel strap does not count. I am so angry! Have to go out searching for new shoes...grrr..

For those fellow crocks lovers...they do make crocks now with no holes in the top

I think that changing it up is the key. I change it up pretty much every day. Crocks, new balance, dansko, and nursemates. It works for me! I'm thinking about taking an extra pair to work and changing mid-shift.

Croc addict here but I do have a pair of Quarks that I alternate with.
I have tried regular New Balance but I can't stand the completely closed in foot.

Since I work 12 hour shifts I was glad to find this thread. Will give at least one of these a try. Ours have to be closed toed and have backs.
probably a good idea to change them up every day.

I'm all for Dansko professionals. I have narrow feet with low arches as well as mild lumbar scoliosis and my feet and back feel fine after 12 hours. And thank goodness it comes in a narrow version! I tried birkenstocks, but they were just too painful on my arches (or lack thereof). Crocs are too loose and sloppy on my feet unfortunately. You may need to try different shoes until you find the best fit.

I believe that the nearest place to get zcoils is near grand rapids Michigan. Think you should really give them a try. They are about the same price as danskos but you muxt be professionally fit.

Wow, well my all time favorite, most comfortable nursing shoes in this galaxy are called: Clinics. Used to be sold opposite MACY*S on 34th Street in NYC. Waaaay back in the day. Having a hard time finding anything that resembles them. They were all white, with shoelaces, made of leather, kind of resembled old fashioned nursing shoes. I still have a pair, but they are there to remind me of when I first entered nursing.
Now I wear Army boots (smile) BUT my second pair of nursing shoes would be: Clogs. The wooden kind, not the kind that you can throw in the washing machine. Kind of expensive, if I recall.
Here is one website that you could check out:

I have had many people tell me how comfortable white sneakers/tennis shoes are, but IMHO I don't think they look professional at all.
Good Luck in your search for the perfect nursing shoe.

For the wooden swedish clogs (be patient need 2 weeks to break in proper-across top of foot-) try clogsonline, dalaclogs, clogwild. I got two pair from clogsonline. The dala horse ones, and plain white ones---VERY comfy after breaking in. I believe they have the kinds with closed backs too.

I have 3 pairs of shoes. A pair of Danskos, a pair of Crocs without holes, and a new pair made by Cherokee(they're a slip on and they are very light) because I was told that it is good to switch every now and then. Also, it depends on what color socks I have on-the Danskos are black, and I found out the hard way that they turn my white socks black!
