How many pairs of scrubs does everyone own? How many should I look to start out with?

Re: Scrubs

Depends on your schedule. If you work 5/8's you need 5. If you work 3/12's you need 3.

Re: Scrubs

I have probably 6 sets (I tend to work either 3 or 4 12s a week), but there are 3 in particular that are my favorites (surgical green, ciel blue, and pink) which I tend to wear all the time.

Re: Scrubs

Oh boy..

I do pedi, so I've got about 6 pedi friendly tops.. (not including holiday tops- 4 christmas, 2 halloween, etc)

6 plain colored tops..

4 pairs of navy blue pants (new job requires only navy blue or white).

And about 8 pairs of all other different colored pants.

I have too many scrubs. I need to go through them and clear out many of them..

If you are working 3 12', I'd start out with 4 pairs. Just in case you decide to go in for OT or something, you'll have an extra pair of pants lying around.

I do like to alternate the tops though..guess thats why I have so many!!

Re: Scrubs

I own way too many because if I see a cute top I buy it. Then soon I'll realize that I don't have pants to match and have to buy a couple of pairs of those.

How many I would start with would depend on how many days a week I work and how often I do laundry.

Re: Scrubs

I have not actually counted the number of scrubs I own, so I'm guessing at this point in time.

I believe I have about 15 tops, and perhaps 10 bottoms. However, I will need to shop for more scrubs in the very near future, because most of my current scrubs now have a loose and baggy fit as the result of my recent weight loss.

I've had to buy a new scrub wardrobe myself, also as a result of weight loss. I have 7 sets of newer scrubs, and I donated my older ones to a thrift store.

Re: Scrubs

I own enough to work a full-time week. When I worked 8 hour shifts, I had 5 pants, 5 tops and 2 jackets.
Now I work once a week per diem. I now own 2 pants, 3 tops and 1 jacket.
Don't be in too much of a hurry and buy a lot until you have worked. Different styles are preferred by different nurses. For example, I like snap front tops with large pockets in front for holding all my pens, paper, etc. When I tried hospital scrubs, the little chest pocket didn't hold much, and everything fell out when I bent over.
Scrubs are cheap and durable.

Re: Scrubs

Wow I'm still in nursing school and only have clinical once a week and I have four pairs. I guess I love scrubs too much.

Six pairs of scrub pants. No tops. I wear T shirts with them.

Start out with enough sets to get through a week plus one spare set for when the dog knocks you into a mud puddle in the driveway or your SO jostles your arm and dumps your OJ down your front.
