Scrub sizes in Recovery Room

I am thinking of applying for a transfer to the recovery room but am concerned b/c they supply scrubs and I wear a size 26/28. THink they would have some to fit me? Plus I am pretty short...do shorties have to roll theirs up?

Re: Scrub sizes in Recovery Room

Usually those who are vertically challanged have to roll them. They should have up to 3xl. At least they did everywhere I have worked. I think your only issue will be length. If unsure is there someone who you could ask?

Thanks. Some 3x's just don't make it...sizes vary so much. I can't really ask anyone at my work.

Sometimes the mens locker room has the larger sizes stocked.

As Sharann mentioned, have someone check to see what is available in the men's locker room, they usually have larger sizes. Just check with your manager, if they thought that it would be an issue, they would have told you.

There is quite a large asst of sizes available to cover many different issues. You should be just fine.

Best of luck on your new job.

Re: Scrub sizes in Recovery Room

My dept. orders scrubs up to 5X as that is what our staff needs to function. Is there anybody you can ask ... friend that works in that area ... nice person that delivers clean laundry? Good Luck and do not let this stop you from working there. You deserve to have the position you want.
PS Yes, us "shorties" do roll our pants up.

Re: Scrub sizes in Recovery Room

Go to your manager and tell her/him that you require size "x". Do this matter of factly. It is too hard to wear scrubs that are tight, they don't allow you to move and perform your job. I have found that the 3x's usually shrink after a while so I would request a 4 or even 5x. If they require that you wear the hospital's scrubs then they must provide the appropriate size. Don't worry about making a big deal out of this or being embarrassed. We all are different shapes and sizes. Since going naked to work is frowned on, there is no reason to be timid and embarrassed about what size you wear. And yes, you will probably be rolling up the waistband and the pant legs. Manufacturing companies have not figured out that you do not always have to increase length when you increase the width of a pair of scrubs! Good luck on your new venture.
