I just got my acceptance letter and start in May! We have uniforms we need to buy from a specific site, but no mention was made of how many to purchase. I was thinking at least 2 pairs, but I would love some input.
I bought 3 tops, 2 pairs of pants, and one lab coat for school. I think I would have been fine with 2 tops because it turns out I don't like the one I bought that is more fitted and never wear it. I bought enough that I would not have to do laundry the night before clinical - I have clinical 2 days per week so I wanted enough for both days.
I just started school 2 weeks ago. We have clinicals (requiring uniforms) Mon, Tues & Weds and classroom on Thurs & Fri. I purchased 3 uniforms. With the amount of homework & reading we have, I can only get laundry done once a week, so I wanted to buy enough uniforms to get me through the week. Our uniforms are all white, so I also didn't want to get into a situation where one got stains that I couldn't get out and be left with only one to wear.
We will have clinical 2 days a week, so our school encouraged us to purchase 2 uniforms, which I did. I would say buy one uniform for each day of clinical you have per week so you don't have to do laundry so often!!
DITTO. One for each day of clinicals. I had 3 days. And our uniforms were white. I bought 4 sets. (I am a bit obsessive/compulsive). I kept the extra uniform in my car. We had to stay clean & white while performing total pt care!!!! We would get sent home if we had a stain on our uniforms. I got Barium enema on my pants leg once from a looney toon that was "going home". Saved myself that day by having the extra pair in reach and changed at lunch. Also, for classmates my size....saved 2 of them as well. And....buy shout wipes. They will take almost any stain or mark off. keep them in your pocket. best investment I made.
Staying clean and white... reminds me of the military. A friend of mine used to tell me about barfights he got into (oh, 30-something odd years ago) while in his navy whites; it was an art form to do so and not have any dirt on you when done.
