I did a quick search, but I wasn't able to find anything on getting custom scrubs.

I know most hospitals have strict policies when it comes to scrub attire, but i would really be interested in finding a store or website that makes custom scrubs. See the thing is, I'm a video-game fiend (if you couldn't tell by my "Chocobo Knight" [Final Fantasy] title).

I would really love to have scrubs with moogles or chocobos on them... or perhaps something else. Does anyone know of any good sites that could possibly do this? I was able to find some sites... but I'm not sure if they are trustworthy or not. Has anyone ever gotten "home made" scrubs from a supplier before and been satisfied?

Are you crafty at all? Scrubs are easy to make and if you can find fabric that you like, why not whip up a pair or two of your own?

Lemme know if you'd like a crash course in how to make a pair.

I don't even own a sewing machine, haha. If I can't find anything, I might just try a little entrepreneurship.

If you have a craft store in the area, ask the fabric dept if anyone does sewing for hire. a lady here in our town makes custom scrubs and they are great.

Sounds like a good idea! Thanks.... I think I'm still going to have problems finding the materials though... and if I had to get those custom made... I'm pretty sure that would cost me a pretty penny.

The fabric is going to cost you the most - especially when you are looking for something so specific. I make my own scrubs and have for years, including scrub hats. The best bet is to look for your specific desired fabric and get it on sale. Really good fabric, especially licensed fabric like from video games, can cost $8/yd and up. Having someone sew for you is an option. Many people who sew underprice big time because they don't know how much the going rate is. So that is good for you in that you can sometimes get people who will sew them for 10 bucks if you provide the material. Of course you never know whether or not they really do know how to sew and you won't have seams coming apart or anything later on. I would ask to see samples of their work first. If you go to a professional seamstress, you will pay more money but it may be less headache as they don't want to ruin their good name by doing mediocre work. There are numerous super easy patterns on the market available at Walmart even through the major manufacturers. My mother has actually hand-sewn herself scrub tops to wear (she doesn't have and won't buy a machine). They really are quite easy.

I think the easiest way (and the way most likely to fit into a dress code) is to buy solid colored scrubs in sets, and then embellish them.

Personally, I've always wanted to do some custom hand embroidery. It's not as complicated as you think. You can print-off, say, the character or game logo you want onto iron-on transfer paper. Two key things - use the right paper for your printer (i.e. laser or inkjet), and try to pick a design with simple lines (at least at first). You can get iron-on transfer paper which will wash-out after the first wash, as well. Iron on your design (I think over the breast, on the sleeve, mid upper back, at the pant cuff are all good placements). Embroidery is pretty simple, and there are a lot of resources online available to assist you.

Me, I just want to embroider something silly like these in a really subtle place on a few pairs of scrubs and see what happens. *giggle*

I think the Iron-On idea is the best yet! I think that is probably what I'll end up doing. Thanks for all your help guys. I'm surprised I didn't think of that before. Thanks!

you might try just finding the fabric and edging the hems with it.
