I've not used one but it seems like the fabric rubbing on the tubing might create some noise. Care to post your experience with them?

Re: What's your take on stethoscope covers?

I used to use one but I don't any more because the covers harbor fomites. Some hospitals won't allow them to be worn for that reason.

But back to your question: I never noticed any noise from mine, because the tubing blocks sound, and that's where the cover is located.

Hmm. I have a cheap Prestige steth. Noise is created when anything touches the tubing which is pretty thin compared to my co-workers' Littmans. I guess with better scopes it's a non-issue?

I use one called "Scopesock." I really like it. I spray it with Lysol regularly.

That it's N-A-S-T-Y.

They ban artificial nails at a hospital, but not stethoscope covers?

Makes no sense to me.
