Does anyone know of a stethoscope with amplification or small mircrophone built into it, so that sounds would be easier to hear? I'm not sure if such a thing exists, but would like to know.

Google Littman and look at their 3000 and 4100 stethescopes.

Expensive, but looks cool.

I'm still using my Thinklabs ds32A amplified scope, and so far, it's also holding up well to EMS field use. See my Amazon review at (LONG link):

I am using an "adscope 656 american diagnostic corp"
very pleased with it, much more easy in noisy areas, (adjustable.)
But i you gone use this kind of stethoscopes you don't like the normal ones anymore.

They are available as you can see, but you are going to have to pay for the luxery. I've even seen some that can record the sounds so they can be shared to help aid diagnoses...You are looking at $350 and up.

Yes, it looks like the Adscope 'scope runs about $210-$350 (depending on vendor). Not sure how much a Littman amplified model costs, but it's bound to be $$$. The Thinklabs ds32A runs about $200. Less expensive, but it also allows you to record stuff heard through the 'scope (via the included cord).

I have a Littman Electronic 3000 and have had it for 2 years. Just sent it in for free refurbishing today - had wonderful luck with it - the batteries last a good long while (and believe me, I use my steth a lot) and have had just wonderful luck with it. Paid $300 for it 2 years ago.
