I have a Littman scope which seems to work good but I have had trouble hearing faint heartbeats. Can any one reccomend a good one? And is there really a difference between single tube and double tube scopes?

My professor was an old cardio nurse, and she had me cut a few inches of tubing off the end of my $15 school bookstore scope. It made a huge difference. Mine was a double tube scope, and she said single tubes concentrate the sound waves better.

I have trouble hearing when my allergies act up and patients with faint heart and lung sounds can be a problem for me. I am going to purchase the Littman 3000 after the holidays. May be a little overkill, but I want to be sure that I am hearing correctly.

i would suggest a visit to an audiologist, and perhaps an ENT....good luck

I did, and the result is a slight hearing loss in the right and the left is fine. The only time that I have any problem is when allergies act up, then the meds dont clear it all.

Good ear pieces are a must. You need to make sure that they seal well in your ears. Even the most expensive stethoscope won't work well unless you have a good seal.

Yes, thats true! If you need to, Lamberts medical supply ( I'm in TN, I don't know if they have these where you are) or maybe an online store like allheart.com or jascouniform.com sells "gelly" earpieces that conform to your ear canal...might help!
