Question Stethoscope Help

I am a nursing student and I need to get a stethoscope for my clinicals. I was debating between the Litmann Lightweight II or an ultrascope. I heard good things about both, but i want the best one. Can anyone help?

I am also researching to buy one for my clinincal. Since some stethosscopes can make u look. like u don't know what you are doing. Its better to research good and but the best ones that will come out with accurate readings.
Righnow I am considering
Littmann® Cardiology III Stethoscope, and Littman Cardiology II (not SE)
It seems Littmann® Cardiology III Stethoscope, SUPPOSE TO BE THE BEST AMONG THE TWO BUT my research had shown that its better to buy a stethoscope with floating (not "tunable") diaphragm, a traditional bell, and dual-lumen tubing. Because tunable ones makes a lot of noise when using it on patient and can affect your readings.
Littman Cardiology II has the traditional belling and cheaper than LC III AND I think LC III is dual (both traditional and tunable bell) but a little bit expensive but woth the money.
I will let you know what I decided with reasons.
Good luck on your clinical.

Moruph Osuolale.

Re: Stethoscope Help

what ever you pick keep a good hold on it because they have a bad
habit of geeting legs and walking away. I paid $100 on mine and laid
at the desk for a few minutes and when I came back it was gone. No
one where it went even though my name was on it. I never to this day
found out what happen to it. So now I buy cheap ones so I am not out
all that money.

Re: Stethoscope Help

I have a littman and its very heavy around my neck so I would definetly go for a lightweight one. Got it as a present for school but wish I would of researched on my own.

Which Littman is that? I assume they're not all heavy.

The name "lightweight" is in the name - so you'll be looking for a Littman Lightweight.

Re: Stethoscope Help

Littmann cardiology II is no longer made, only the Cardiology III is left. Still a very good stethoscope. If I were in your shoes, i would purchase the Littmann Lightweight due to name, weight, feel, etc. I personally do not like the way the Ultrascope feels. I know another former student who used to have Ultrascope and loved it, though.

Re: Stethoscope Help

I would definitely go with the Littman brand, I have used other cheaper ones at work and found my Littman to be sooo much better. I have never used an Ultrascope though. Don't forget to get an ID tag for it and don't set it down for too long!
