Unhappy Stethascope Cover for hair breakage

Does anyone know where I can find a stethascope cover? (I guess that's what you call it). Mine has caused hair breakage from pulling my "baby hair" that falls from my pony tail. Thanks!

Have you looked at stethoscope socks? Try tafford.com or allhearts.com. Sometimes they have them. Your local scrub store may also stock them. Good luck.

They are also quite easy to make, if you're into that sort of stuff. Where I am there is a staff member who makes them & gives them away around the holidays. Find the fabric you like, measure the length/width you need, and a little stitching - voila!

I am NOT handy at that sort of stuff, so I am grateful that she is!

Re: Stethascope Cover for hair breakage

Stethoscope covers are banned at my facility as a infection control issue.

I don't wear my steth around my neck. I keep it in my nursing bag that sits outside of my pts room.

ETA: Also, invest in a good steth that doesn't have the metal bar across, or one with only one tube.

There's a zillion of them on ebay..just search for stethoscope sleeves. They're like 99 cents to a few bucks on there.

Why do you suggest not getting one w/ a metal bar across or one w/ only one tube? I know many people that can hear out a sprague rapport type better than one that only has one tube. But to each his/her own...

In case you missed the actual topic of the OP, I suggested getting one without the metal or with only one tube to minimize the hair pulling.

Allheart.com has both covers, as well as, a belt clip you can use to hold your stethoscope with. I personally prefer the belt clip and it is less of an infection control problem. Here's the link.
