Curious - Anyone use the Littman 3000 electronic stethoscope?

I was in the market for a new stethoscope, was wondering if any nurses out there ever used or familiar with the Littman 3000 Electronic stethoscope....Thanks...

Re: Anyone use the Littman 3000 electronic stethoscope?

I have one of them, and it works very well in noisy environments. I rarely use it, though, because it will not hang easily around your neck. The tubing that goes from the bell up toward the earpieces has a controller, that holds the batteries. Because of this, it will not hang normally around your neck and it is a pain to keep in your pocket. But, for performance you can't beat it.

Re: Anyone use the Littman 3000 electronic stethoscope?

I have a 4000 before it got cheaper. The thing does hang funny but believe me, if you spend that much for it you will get comfortable with it around your neck. I've had mine for 3 years and would not trade it for anything comparable unless my hearing gets profoundly worse.

A tech I work with tried it out and she said she could hear my footsteps on the carpet from about 20 yards away. It's wonderful.

Re: Anyone use the Littman 3000 electronic stethoscope?

I recently bought the 3000 because Littman had a 30 day free trial.....and I love it. It is so much easier to hear slight changes than my old Master Cardiology. If you can just try it, you will buy it.

Re: Anyone use the Littman 3000 electronic stethoscope?

I had it...I sold it on e-bay. I couldn't get used to it. I didn't see how it was a noise reduction...for me...I heard EVERYTHING...except what I wanted to hear. I want a master cardiology, but prefer my Littmann classic II to the 3000 electronic.

Re: Anyone use the Littman 3000 electronic stethoscope?

I have a Littman 3000 and love it. I have some hearing loss, so I need the amplification. The post above that says it doesn't hang well around the neck is not true for me. I wear mine around my neck easily, although it is slightly heavier than other stethoscopes.

Hope this helps.

Re: Anyone use the Littman 3000 electronic stethoscope?

I have some hearing loss as well and LOVE it. I can pick up all kinds of murmurs, lungs sounds, etc. My only complaint is using it to take manual BPs. You have to have it placed just right it seems. The bell is not as flat as other models or something. I think its the model you are referring to. i paid about $260 or something? It has abutton for bell and diaphragm and you can turn the volume up or down and requires batteries........I love it but prefer a standard littman for BPs.

I have some hearing loss as well and use my Littmann electronic stethoscope model 3000 exclusively. It hangs on my neck without issue and is the best equipment investment I've made. Luv it!

Re: Anyone use the Littman 3000 electronic stethoscope?

When I was accepted to nursing school I was given two Littman stethoscopes as gifts. One was the Classic II SE and the other was the 3000. Being a techno-nerd I started off (and stayed) with the 3000...and I love it. My hearing isn't as good as it used to be so this on is great. The Classic II SE is great I'm told, but it's collecting dust now. If anyone is interesed in a great deal on a new scope, send me a private message.

Re: Anyone use the Littman 3000 electronic stethoscope?

I was just mentioning to hubby last night that I needed a new scope--I have severe tinnitus AND hearing loss (result of job in a former life). I have been using a Master Cardiology-which has served me well until lately-I guess my hearing loss is getting worse-right along with the tinnitus. I went online right after reading the posts--the 3000 is on sale at stethoscope dot com. Hopefully I will be able to hear those faint rales and murmurs again SOON!
