Re: The Slumping Real Estate Market

Haha!!! Steve, you have your choice then!!!

I have been slowly working at doing projects around the house with my mother's help.... I pay, she takes care of getting it done since I travel. I will have it worth selling when the market improves. I think now, I am going to focus on getting the kitchen and master bathroom fixed up....

You can add me to the list, too, Steve. As an old NICU nurse, we'd even have that in common. Unfortunately, the key word is "old" NICU nurse. I'm 53.

I don't know about that. 43 was not this much hassle -- or expensive.

In the last 5 years I have become post-menopausal, hypertensive, hypothyroid, dyphagic, and diabetic. My cholesterol went up and my Vitamine D level went down. My knees and hips hurt when I am on my feet for more than an hour. "Perscritpion drug coverage" has become one of my key political issues due to the large number of expensive pills I take daily. I have to exercise every day -- and I always hated gym class.

AKA the "Slumping Real Estate Market" . . . . .

I'm not post-menopausal yet. I wonder about hypothyroid as I'm exhausted most of the time. My cholesterol is up a bit but my doc isn't concerned enough to put me on meds (thank goodness) but I do need to lose at least 10 pounds. Preferably more but then my wrinkles would have no fat to hang on and would get deeper.

Back to the subject . .. our home is in the middle of this small town because it was built next to the large general store owned by my husband's grandparents. In the 80's some industrious real estate group petitioned the county to rezone everything on the major highway "business" so it is impossible to even get a loan on a home (no insurance company will cover you because if more than 75% of your house is destroyed in a fire or flood or earthquake, you cannot rebuild a house - you must build a business).

Therefore - no equity in your home.

i think i understand what you're saying steph, but i'm not overweight and my face is fine.
put it this way: it doesn't sag, and only a few lines around the eyes.
no wrinkles yet, so i don't know if being thin would make anything more pronounced.

ok, just had to 'ADD' to the conversation.

Re: The Slumping Real Estate Market

My mom had a friend back in the 1970's who was very pretty but very overweight. She was active, camped and waterskiied with her kids, etc. But decided to lose the weight. She was in her 40's back then. She did lose about 100 pounds but hated the way her face looked - more pronounced wrinkles. So, she gained the weight back. She would rather be fat than wrinkled.

steph

p.s. Les . . .you just want to rub it in that you are thin and unwrinkled

people that lose a tremendous amt of weight and don't exercise, are going to have a lot of excess skin that hangs there.
i would think your mom's friend had facial skin that sagged, rather than wrinkles?

and no, i'm not trying to rub anything in...at all.
i'm only saying that if you want to lose more than 10 lbs, go for it.
you're active and exercise frequently.
i don't think you'd be a risk for saggy skin.
