He usually speaks pretty well. We all make grammatical errors now and then, especially when speaking. I think it's fair to say McCain is not in the Bush grammar league.

Re: Mccain

I heard someone on TV say Senator Obama is against nuclear energy. That person was mistaken.

BARACK OBAMA’S PLAN TO MAKE AMERICA A GLOBAL ENERGY LEADER

Safe and Secure Nuclear Energy: Nuclear power represents more than 70 percent of our noncarbon generated electricity. It is unlikely that we can meet our aggressive climate goals if we eliminate nuclear power from the table.

However, there is no future for expanded nuclear without first addressing four key issues: public right-to-know, security of nuclear fuel and waste, waste storage, and proliferation.

Barack Obama introduced legislation in the U.S. Senate to establish guidelines for tracking, controlling and accounting for spent fuel at nuclear power plants.

To prevent international nuclear material from falling into terrorist hands abroad, Obama worked closely with Sen. Dick Lugar (R – IN) to strengthen international efforts to identify and stop the smuggling of weapons of mass destruction.

As president, Obama will makesafeguarding nuclear material both abroad and in the U.S. a top anti-terrorism priority.

Obama will also lead federal efforts to look for a safe, long-term disposal solution based on objective, scientific analysis. In the meantime, Obama will develop requirements to ensure that the waste stored at current reactor sites is contained using the most advanced dry-cask storage technology available.
Barack Obama believes that Yucca Mountain is not an option. Our government has spent billions of dollars on Yucca Mountain, and yet there are still significant questions about whether nuclear waste can be safely stored there.

I don't read that as a declaration of Senator Obama's support of expanding the nuclear energy resources in the US which is what I advocated in my post (to which I believe that you're referring).

Re: Mccain

Actually your post reminded me of what the man said on TV. He claimed that Obama opposes nuclear energy production.

He seems to be very interested is ensuring safety in storage and possible uses for the waste.
Of course we all want to make sure it is safe.
No more Chernobyl disasters in the world.

McCain is proposing 45 new nuclear power plants in the United States.
Has he thought this through?

Re: Mccain

i am sure that mccain has thought this through..waste storage is going to be minimal because it is going to be used and reused..transport is a problem but they have plans to move it without being subject to terroist, accident natural disaster
no matter who is the next president there are going to have to be some hard choices
those people who scream and carry placcards about NIMB when they go home they want a warm house and affordable electricity

Weird how the mind works. I see that you made no reference to my post and yet I read your statement as a direct response to mine; I missed the "on TV" part altogether... I tick myself off when I do that

Probably not any more than he thought through his support of invading Iraq...

Re: Mccain

Is Senator McCain running against the "summer of love"? Against hippies? Against hope?
Senator Obama was probably in the first grade in 1967. (I worked at the VA)

I agree with General Wesley Clark, he was a war hero, but how does that make him a better candidate for President?

George McGovern was a war hero and pilot too. He completed 35 missions over enemy territory under heavy anti-aircraft artillary.
