Methinks you're correct, Sue. There are too many people in the US, especially in the Heartland, who will not be too tolerable of a female or a black male as the next American President. It will happen over their dead bodies. While Iowa is in the Heartland, its people do not reflect the sentiments everywhere.
We must look to our recent history to guide us in the future. In the past 40 years, all of the Democratic Presidents have been from the South, and got elected through conservative or centrist platforms. Johnson, Carter, and Clinton are the types of people that will win votes from all over the nation, including the ultra conservative Christian Fundamentalist voters.
