Clinton-Obama Ticket Stirs Fear in GOP

"Listen, we've got some lackluster people running on our side, and that is exactly the kind of ticket that would get their side in a fever pitch" said a Bush ally.

Hope Obama and Clinton dont burn all their bridges with one another, they WOULD make a dynamite ticket!:nclr:

I'm not sure who I'll vote for on February 5th. It may be Edwards. This may not be PC BUT:

I am very moved to see a person with dark skin and a woman as the front runners.
This is a wonderful historic time in our country.

While not politically correct, it was eloquently worded.

And is as politically viable as an 18 week preterm.

I really hope our strategy isn't "Lose Big in 2008."

Methinks you're correct, Sue. There are too many people in the US, especially in the Heartland, who will not be too tolerable of a female or a black male as the next American President. It will happen over their dead bodies. While Iowa is in the Heartland, its people do not reflect the sentiments everywhere.

We must look to our recent history to guide us in the future. In the past 40 years, all of the Democratic Presidents have been from the South, and got elected through conservative or centrist platforms. Johnson, Carter, and Clinton are the types of people that will win votes from all over the nation, including the ultra conservative Christian Fundamentalist voters.

I really hope that we as a society have moved beyond the race card and coded racist messages.

Wow! I had no idea that my neighbors in the heartland and I were so intolerant! Perhaps it is your thinking, not ours that needs adjusting.

As an avid Washington Journal listener on CSPAN I have (sadly) heard both overt and coded appeals to racism from listeners from both the South and Midwest.

Racism is simply wrong for America. We live in a multicultural society.

I don't think it is ALL of us Southerners or Midwesterners who feel that way. But I do live down here and there is, depending on who you're with, a sense that race does play an issue. I personally think it's about time for the US to have a president that's not a white male (nothing against white males here....ok??). Countries far younger than ours have had women and/or minorities as president for years and years now.
