Nationwide Shortage of IV Lopressor

Hospital I work at just announced that we will be reserving all use of IV Lopressor for only acute MI patients and that we will be using other drugs (vasotec, etc) instead due to a nationwide shortage of IV Lopressor, has anyone else heard of this shortage?

Re: Nationwide Shortage of IV Lopressor

HMMMM.... maybe THAT'S why our hospital ran out of IV Lopressor earlier this week!
I'll do some digging around the 'net later this evening for more info on the problem... If I find any credible articles or links, I'll post 'em here ASAP!

Re: Nationwide Shortage of IV Lopressor

So THAT's why we're doing IV Vasotec Q6 instead of Lopressor IV Q6 on surgical patients requiring rate control. I thought it was just this crop of general surgery residents' drug-of-the-moment.
The more you know....
