Exclamation am i going backwards?

I am a nurse who graduated a year ago and have been doing med surg for a year. However, working evenings was hard on me and my child. I was offered a day position in a long term acute care hospital and I took the offer. One of my coworkers said it was going "backwards" (Said jokingly, but you know how that goes). Anyway, what the heck is the difference? It is an acute cardiac pulmonary floor... sounds alot like a medical floor! Some patients are so ill they need specialized care for a long period..three weeks or so before they go home.
ANy body can tell me what the difference is between long term acute and med surg? Will I lose my med surg skills?
