Airborne precautions

Hi ,
Iam a new graduate, second week working on my own( off orientation).
I had a patient yesterday 25 yrs old, Hx; HIV+/AIDS, CD4 count of 24, pt also has TB and informed me she has not been taking her medications religiously.Pt was admitted chief complaint SOB and low grade fevers. Pt was diagnosed with PJP (Pneumcystitis Jerovicii Pneumonia)
Two sputum specimens for AFB -negative. I sent the 3rd specimen to the lab, results were still pending at 1500, (end of 8hr shift) when i saw an order written by the intern to D/C aIRBORNE PRECAUTIONS.

QUESTION; I read that 3 negative AFB specimens are needed to confirm if the pt is not contagious. I was glad the shift was over coz i was not too sure about this order. I would appreciate any input on this issue.
