Re: advice need on the SEE exam & boards

When I took the SEE and boards I found them to be completely different. My instructors told us that the SEE exam was an example of the boards. I did not see the simularities. Then again, I studied pretty hard for the boards and the SEe exams were during school and I had other things to do at the same time. Know everything in Morgan and Mikkhail and you'll pass.
Good luck

Pardon my ignorance, but I have not heard about the SEE, are these the simulated exams that the AANA provides that are reflective of the actual boards? Will my program administer these exams to my class in the guise of a comprehensive exam? Did you take any prep courses (eg. Valley), were they helpful? Finally, would you recommend that I take a prep course in the beginning of my 2nd year of study, so that I will know what to focus on while still in the program, or is this a waste of time and money, so soon? Thanks in advance Quiigley, I have followed your posts and respect any advice that you have to offer. Natural.

Re: advice need on the SEE exam & boards

Natural Gas; (Love the name!)
The SEE exam is supposed to test students to see how they are doing in the learning process. Are they on track, etc. It is )I think) supposed to mimick the boards, but I did not think so. (I'm post call, I can't type)
As for the Valley or such prep courses, I found it to be unbelievably worth it. It helped me organize the material, I found some stuff that was important and my program barely touched on it and it gave me the confidence in passing the test.
I studied Morgan and Valley materials. That;s it. I graduated. Took one week off to rest. Then studied Monday thru Sat. for 12 hours each day. 4 weeks. Very disciplined, 30 min lunch. No friends, no internet, no phone calls during my study period.
i took boards, and it stopped at the minimum number of questions. There is no telling my score, but I passed! Whew! (that was 4-6 years ago- I'm being vague as to not give my ID away).
My advise is to study each week what you need for school, in your Sr yr. take Valley, then study your a$$ off without interruptions. Make the torture of school worth your while.
Good Luck

Hi Qwiigley,
Thanks for the very valuable information. I am going to save what you have written and refer to it regularly for the next 2 years. Natural.
