Old Apr 21, 2008 11:44 AM - Martha,

I do admire your courage and strength. I too am a victim, but I reported the incident to authorities in 1992. I wished that I hadn't at the time, I was led to believe that it was my fault because I did have 1 drink and dinner and that was the wrong thing to do. I was not treated as a victim by any means, including the DA. So it never went to trial. Years later, while googling the persons name, I found that because of my report his name appeared in a small article and several ladies took that as a warning. For me that was a little redemption.

Predators should be castrated. I'm willing to forgive, but there are results to our actions. This should be a result for proven sexual predators, its about power, arrogance and evil.

I am proud to be part of the AllNurses family with you. There is some peace in disclosure, at least for me, and if I can help even one person identify and discuss just a small aspect of their tragic experience with sexual assault, I feel so grateful to have been able to elicit that. Again and always, thank you for your compassion, empathy, sympathy and strength...We are strong, whole and if not thriving, then certainly surviving as best we can....Martha

Old May 09, 2008 11:23 AM - The other day as I was sitting with a few of my classmates, one of them told me that she was raped by her grandfather since age 7. Her mother wldnt believe her story. She continued to be raped by him when her mother sent her to him to baby-sit her. Her own mother was very irresponsible and didnt seem to care at all? How cld that be ??? It appalled me. I saw the pain and bitterness when she spoke of her grandfather who is dead and gone. She married at 16, had a bitter life, got into drugs, smoking, trouble and divorce. Now she is happily married and she always tells us how good and forgiving her husband has been to her. That is the blessing that God has bestowed on her.

Two other ladies in the group also said they were raped when they were in their teens. I was very surprised to hear their stories ... Why are those men so cruel???. They are not really human beings, they are beasts .... What sort of thrills and satisfactions do they derive out of their acts of cruelty?? I really can never and will never understand.
