Stepdown units

I'm trying to write Standards of Care for a Trauma Stepdown Unit (Level 2 Trauma Center) Does anyone have any samples they can share with me? What do you think the Nurse/Patient ratio should be?

we have a combined icu/stepdown unit and we staff 2-3pts per sdu pt and take vs q 2-4 unless we are titrating a gtt. when the units were separate they staffed 4 pts per nurse in sdu
