SICU New Hire

Hello I just got a job at the SICU as a nurse extern. I am currently finishing up my junior year of nursing school (BSN Program). I was wondering from seasoned nurses and also other nurse externs/nursing students is that how can I prepare for the SICU so that when I start I dont look like I dont know a thing?

I know I am still a student but I would like to impress the staff.

Please give me some feedback thanks!

I agree. It got me through a lot of AH HA moments...lol.

I also like Critical Care Nursing Secrets second edition.

And as far as impressing the staff...what impresses me is someone who wants to get their hands dirty and isn't afraid of jumping in and learning hand on.

Good luck!
