Question Servo 900c

I could use any help from my fellow nurses. I have gone from a facility that used the very nice and very user friendly (in my opinion) Hewlett Packard computerized vent to a facility that uses the Servo 900c. I am now lost and when I asked question of both my current fellow workers and the RT at my facility, no one oculd give me any help on how this critter works or how to tell what the TV, mode and such other info that is needed for report. I figured out where the RR was and I found where the FiO2 is but that is about all I can get. I found a web site on line that had a free interactive on this model vent but I am having issues with DLing the entire program and have contacted the site. In the mean time if anyone has a cheat sheet that they use for just such a beast as this, i would love to obtain the info so that i do not feel so lost. Thanks!

Sorry can't help you out here as my facility uses all Puritan Bennet Vents, no Siemens (servo) vents at all.............

I find it odd that the RT couldn't help you....actually, that's kind of scary. If anyone should know the vent the RT should!

Hi Christie

I Love the Servo 900C....grew up on it as an RRT for the past 16 years

Now a nurse!

Here is the deal

Look at the mode selection first

If you are in the SIMV MODE
your tidal volume is calculated by the miniute ventilation knob and respiratory rate nob......

Example:
The minute ventilation knob is set at
15 LPM
The knob right next to it on the right
is the rate knob
Say it is set at 20 BPM
So you have
15 divided by 20 =
0.800 or VT 800 cc

In the SIMV mode, the simv rate has it's own rate knob just below the two described above.

If you are in the Assist Control mode, it is a little trickier
but the principe is the same

Just remember the equation

VT time RR = Minute Ventilation.
Good Luck!

Sandi,

Thanks soo much for your help. I really appreciate it. I'll let you know how I am making out. I am looking for info to put on an index card to keep in my pocket on how to find all the important stuff that we need to document and report off on. But this is a great start for me! Thanks again.
