Thank you for the web site. I'm printing as much as I have paper and it is free! I wrote a 28 line reply, got disconnected; reconnected only to come to a blank page. Let's just say I'm excited.

New grads and nurses to ICU get 12 weeks at my hospital plus an eight week Critical Care Course and a 5 week Trauma course cause we are a Trauma unit. Since I came to my current ICU with 3 months experience, I was given a 9 week orientation. But I ask questions all the time. The only dumb question is the one that isn't asked.

it would be a plus factor if u know much with EKG reading, do u? I am willing to learn more on EKG reading

With regards to self study critical care nursing, I think it would be a very bad mistake to enter this kind of nursing by self study. There is a lot to learn. There is a lot of complex information which should be taught by a facilitator. And it is going to have a clinical rotation to have hands experience while getting guidance from a nurse.
